Sunnyside ... on the Isle of Black

The first great monks on this island found the land ideal for the production of grains, and those are really the gold standard of most civilsations.  In English "bread" means money.  French has a similar analogy in its slang.  Yet, over the centuries farmers in this island realized that a new plant was even more precious than " bread".   This was the potato, a freshly arrived plant from the America's.  Today the new potato from Noirmoutier is worth its own weight in gold (that comparison was actually made a few years back and the best "tater" in the world won the prize!).
