Paris - Ready to Roll...

Our last shopping stop is the Forum des Halles, one of Paris' greatest shopping centers -- and the stores are all under ground!  In fact up until my cherished 1800's this was the main food and produce market of the city.  My favorite author, Emile Zola, wrote a marvelous novel ("The Belly of Paris") about this place that put the food market at the heart of a story that rivals the drama of the novel by Hugo that put Notre Dame de Paris back in favor after years of neglect.  You may know this story at "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", but the real hero of this book is the place and the building.  If you've got some time this summer, check it out (or just buy it and read it...).
