The Valley of the Kings

The open windows, the full symmetry of design, the references to antiquity, all blend for an effect of harmony and pleasure that signals a new conception of humanity's place in the universe.  The towers do recall the warlike character of medieval society, but Renaissance artists aimed for effects of tranquility, reflection, and joy.
