After lunch we take a quick stroll to Charette's Cross. As we've seen
in presentations this morning, this is one of the most revered sites in
all of Vendée. Whether you're a Blue (a defender of the Republic) or
a Blanc (a defender of the Monarchy), this site is a place of serious
reflection. I guess I should add here that since were we in the field yesterday and since we tried to do the prep for this visit two days ago, neither the visit this morning nor the importance of this site was entirely clear to all. |
