Our destination this morning is the Logis de la Chabotterie. A "logis vendéen" is not a specific building, but rather an ensemble of buildings developed in the Renaissance to farm the rich earth in this part of the world. This logis belonged to the "Chabot" family, whence its name, and in addition to the main house includes the common building where the peasants and farmers lived and worked as "métayeurs" (sharecroppers). |
