D-Day Minus One, 2004

This Saturday morning I arise to notice dozens of people digging in the sands of the beach.  I know immediately what they're after -- it's a small shellfish called a "pinion".  Early June is peak season for this "mini-clam"  that grows right here on the beach.  The shell is as small as your thumbnail and it takes dozens to make a meal, but properly prepared, this is another delicacy of fine French cuisine.
