Blue Skies o'er Blackminster

In days gone by this passage was extremely dangerous.  The strait is flooded from two tides, and the road is a recent innovation.  Crossing over the mud and patches quick sand was sometimes mortal for those unaware, and for those too confident.  Today the road helps, but even now a car or two is lost every year.  When your car goes under, you're supposed to climb up one of these "balises", the towers all along the road put there for the innocent passer who gets caught in the tide.
