Note that the French form of Eleanore is "Aliénor".
That's how we speak of her here. Aliénor's mother, Aénor de Chatellerault chose this site for her tomb. Later this summer we'll see Aliénor's own burial site, along with that of her son Richard the Lion-Hearted, and that of her second husband Henry II Plantagenêt, direct descendent of William the Conqueror. (We saw her first husband's tomb at Saint-Denis last week.) |
