It is from those gardens that we stroll across the Ile Saint-Louis to the Marais -- literally the Marshes. Once a swampland, this part of Paris was drained by medieval monks and since the Renaissance has been one of the city's most elegant areas. Here we pass before the Hôtel de Sens. |
