Madame Benoist then takes us back in time to the early monarchs of France. Here we see a portrait of one of those in the middle -- King CharlesVII, the ruler who chose Saint Joan of Arc to lead the defense of his realm against the English invaders of the Hundred Years War. Later this summer we'll visit the castle of Chinon where Charles VII and Joan of Arc first met. |
