Safe in Sand

Many of these pages will be about the history and culture of the places we explore.  You won't get anything like the full show, but I'll try to give you a glimpse.  Here's a plaque on the fisherman's port in Les Sables.  It bears the Cross of Lorraine, emblem of the French Resistance to the Nazi Occupation.  I roughly translate the inscription:  "From the ocean's large, they came for us, to supply our arms and our munitions; our trawlers of the open sea who landed on our shores.  They were the cadets of our Free France."
