Many of these pages will be about the history and culture of the places we explore. You won't get anything like the full show, but I'll try to give you a glimpse. Here's a plaque on the fisherman's port in Les Sables. It bears the Cross of Lorraine, emblem of the French Resistance to the Nazi Occupation. I roughly translate the inscription: "From the ocean's large, they came for us, to supply our arms and our munitions; our trawlers of the open sea who landed on our shores. They were the cadets of our Free France." |
