The Big Chill

Our first stop today is in the home of Leonardo de Vinci who spent the last days of his life in the town of Amboise.  King François I brought Leonardo and many other Italian artists and scientists to France in early 1500's.  The French Renaissance would not have been possible without them.  I should note that photos are not allowed in Leonardo's home -- somehow the camera went off just as the Vendéens were passing through Leonardo's bedroom (it wasn't me, I swear!).  In fact most of the exhibits here are of Leonardo's engineering feats.  Not a coincidence the the French word for engineering is "génie".  It means "genius" also.
