In the chapel at the top of the hill we stop a moment to contemplate the reflections of recent visitors. The commentaries are both fascinating and perplexing. We'll work on this hard in class tomorrow as we try to work through some very hard questions on the creation of a nation and the complications that make such a task so daunting. France is a country of many identities and many beliefs.
