Vendée in the days of Fairies and Giants

Our visit this morning has left us with a Gargantuan appetite.  Our luncheon begins with a "farci poitevin", a delicious salad with a fresh variety of vegetables and meats from these lands.  Our main dish today is an old Vendée tradition (and one of my favorites) -- Vendée ham with mogettes (a bean grown here that is an incredible treat to the palate when slowly cooked on an open fire).  We'll finish with a very fine apple tart topped gooseberry jelly.  How sweet it is !!!
