The earlier days of the Renaissance were a much more pleasant time in this valley. The French kings were not the only ones to find it so. The Italian artist, philosopher, and engineer Leonardo da Vinci also chose Amboise as a residence. Leonardo spent the last years of his life in the château du Clos Lucé, just a few hundred yards from the high castle of Amboise. |
