Chinon's position on the River Vienne is one that has
striking parallels with a place known quite well to many of our WVU-Vendéens.
The main thoroughfares are two -- one "low street" that runs
along the river and is threatened by floods, and one "high
street" that is a bit further from the water and which has for
centuries served as the main business and shopping district of the town.
Those of us from Morgantown, West Virginia all know the importance of High Street back home. |
