The Longest Day . . .

In reality, June 21 is the longest day of every summer, and none are more aware of this than the 2001 Vendéens.

The Vendée-Mobile today has taken us from an early departure in Les Sables deep into the heart of inland Vendée, a region known as "le Haut Bocage."   En route, we stop in the village of Vendrennes, known far and wide for the quality of its sweet bread or "brioche." When Marie-Antoinette said "Let them eat cake", 'brioche' is the word she used (if in fact she ever said such a thing).  No starving peasant would have dreamed of such a luxury, but today our own little dream comes true.
