Lest we forget . . .
Like those of the Middle Ages, the windows in this church tell a specific set of stories. In addition to the biblical narratives of the older structures, here we see the legend of the Abbot Barbedette. Father Barbedette is a legendary figure here. He is said to have worked several near-miracles in service of God and the King during a very dangerous time for men of such conviction. Here we see his final capture and execution by republican guards -- the "Blues" whose uniforms are easily recognizable in this stained glass. |
