Our other lectures today focus on two very different times
in the history of this area. First we do a brainstorming session
on prehistoric life. As students suggest ideas and as we prod them
on, we develop the vocabulary that we will need to understand our field
trip to the nearby Archeological Center tomorrow. The key concept
is the move from hunter/gathering society to a sedentary agricultural
one. Our discussion thus moves into the details of the tools,
plants, and materials necessary to this life. We will see all this
and more in the field tomorrow.
When break time comes, Dr. V. has made a trip to the nearby market. Today she found a fresh offering of "maras des bois", a special kind of strawberry that is quite small and exceptionally sweet and flavorful. You don't find these every day . . . |
