Today is a big day in Les Sables. It is the official
ceremony recognizing the winners of the Vendée-Globe, a round-the-world
race that begins and ends in Les Sables d'Olonne. There are two
key rules: 1) each boat is sailed by a solitary skipper with no crew our
outside assistance; 2) the boat may not make port for any reason along
the way. Needless to say simply finishing the race is a feat in
itself.
Here Lauren Casella is out on the Remblai with her host sister to witness the festivities. |
