Early in the afternoon we gather at the Gare Montparnasse to board the TGV for Les Sables d'Olonne. The TGV has been much in the news here lately, for the French rail system has just this week been testing new lines that will link northern Europe to the Mediterranean in times that rival and beat those offered by contemporary airlines -- and with the train you leave and arrive from your real destination, not some far off airport named for a city in the general vicinity.... |
