Only three persons not of the royal family are buried in Saint-Denis. Here we see the tomb of Du Guesclin, the greatest hero of the Hundred Years War before Joan of Arc. If not for these two, Queen Elizabeth of England would perhaps reign here now -- or perhaps Jacques Chirac would reign in London!!! In any case that is the war that definitively separated the English kingdom from the French. |
