The IHTIA Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee for the History of Technology and Industrial Archaeology plays an important role in administering IHTIA. Its major function is an annual meeting each spring on the campus of WVU in Morgantown where it advises and consults with IHTIA staff, approves proposed plans of work, and serves as a peer review group. Amendment language establishing the Advisory Committee reads as follows:

An Advisory Committee will guide the development, review and approval of the individual projects and activities to be conducted under this Agreement. Individual project plans will be approved by the committee prior to submission to NPS. The advisory committee shall be composed, at a minimum, of the individuals or their designee holding the following positions:

                    National Park Service's Philadelphia System Support Office

                    (Chief, Resource Stewardship & Partnerships)

                    National Park Service's HABS/HAER (Chief)

                    Smithsonian Institution (Director, History of Science and Technology)

                    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Cultural Resources Branch, New Orleans District)

                    West Virginia University Research Corporation (Secretary or Executive Director)

                    State Historic Preservation Officers (Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland)

                    West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts and Sciences (Dean)

                    West Virginia University Department of History (Coordinator of the Public History Program)

In addition to the voting members of the Advisory Committee, the director and associate director of IHTIA serve as ex-officio members.
