The Institute for the History of Technology & Industrial Archaeology IA Links |
|---|
Here are hundreds of web links relating to industrial archaeology, the history of technology, and historic preservation. This list includes sites IHTIA staff have found particularly useful (or entertaining) and is roughly divided into categories highlighting common themes and popular subjects, plus resources for researchers and students. Italicized links are online books.
It isn't easy to "pigeonhole" industrial archaeology...historic technologies can be inter-related, defying historians' attempts to delineate clear boundaries between fields of study; some subjects date to antiquity, while others are surprisingly "modern"; finally, the subject matter open to study by technology historians and industrial archaeologists is continually expanding, reflecting the complexity of the Industrial Revolution and current advances in technology.
