I have been teaching at West Virginia University since 1983.  I graduated with a B.S. in physics from St.Vincent College (Latrobe, PA) in 1974, and from the University of Toronto, Canada with an M.A. (1976) and Ph.D (1982) in history of science.   Afterwards followed a post-doctoral year at the Smithsonian Institution.

My historical interests include the history of physics and of the earth sciences.   My current writings concern questions of disciplinary identities, shifting research programs, and diverse commitments (social, institutional, and political) in the earth sciences.  I am researching a book in the history of geophysics, titled "Magnetical Worlds".

Dr. Good is on sabbatical & research leave until January 2007.
