This device is a odor detector designed for detecting explosives using moths excellent sense of smell

Here is a wonderful high speed video example of a male moth avoiding a bat using its incredible agility and its ability to see in near complete darkness. In fact it is dark enough in the recording room that the human (seen in the video) cannot see the bat or moth as it flies by
