COURSE GOALS: The aims of this course will be to write a grant that has a chance, pure and simple. Independent of the funding agency, all proposals have key elements up one which they are assessed. We will identify these, use them to assess grants of others, and ultimately craft a document that could be submitted to a funding agency as a graduate or postdoctoral fellowship. By taking this course it is assumed that you are coming with and idea to package into a proposal.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  1. Gain an understanding of your funding options.
  2. Place your "idea" within the context of fundability.
  3. Gain an understanding of grant scoring criterion.
  4. Gain an understanding of proposal organization.
  5. Enhance you writing and reviewing skills.

CLASS CONDUCT: It is expected that you familiarize yourself with the relevant reading material before class and participate.


COURSE GRADING POLICY: Your course grade will be based upon the percentage of points scored over total points available. There will be 100 total point's available broken down as follows:
