Degree candidates should report to 2nd floor Coliseum above the Red Gate
at 1 p.m.
Reception for Degree Candidates and their guests

Commencement exercises for the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at the WVU Coliseum. This ceremony is for those students completing their University degree requirements in August 2007, December 2007, and May 2008. Prospective August 2008 graduates may also participate. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for degree candidates and their guests will be held in the Shell Building located next to the Coliseum.

No admissions tickets are required for the ceremony and reception, and
there is no limit on the number of guests a degree candidate may bring with
them to Commencement events. However, we do need degree candidates
planning to participate to RSVP by May 2.
Cap and gown are required to participate in the ceremony and may be purchased at the WVU Bookstore. A&S tassles are color coded by degree being conferred: BA and MA wear white, BS and MS wear yellow/gold, PhD wear dark blue, MPA wear peacock, and Social Work wear citron. Every degree candidate will walk across the stage on the floor of the Coliseum to receive his or her diploma. All PhD and Master candidates will be hooded during the ceremony. Participants are required to provide own hood.
The ceremony will include a formal processional, remarks by keynote
speaker, hooding of doctoral and master candidates, distribution of
diplomas, singing of alma mater, and a formal recession.
At 1p.m. on May
18, degree candidates should report to 2nd floor Colisum above the Red Gate
entrance to check-in at registration tables and line up for
processional. Degree candidates will be lined-up for processional by
department, then alphabetically within degree being conferred. (For
example: Biology PHD candidates lined-up alphabetically by last name,
followed by Biology MS candidates lined-up alphabetically by last name,
followed by Biology BS candidates....etc.) If you are a double or triple
major, there is a box on the RSVP form for you to indicate which department
you wish to be placed with for the processional and conferring of
degree. Degree candidates must report back to their seat after receiving
their diploma.
