Fragmentation Vest

Camouflaged fragmentation vests or bulletproof vests are typically worn by the US Army during wartime. The vest is designed with camouflage fabric over Kevlar and nylon. This particular vest was issued to Private First Class Semar and somehow ended up in a coal miner's possession where he wore it on the picketing lines. A striking miner would wear a fragmentation vest for protection, because the miner owners and operators would hire men to shoot at and intimidate the striking miners.
