This page contains sample exam questions from previous years. Please
note that the material covered in lecture evolves over time and therefore
these exams cover material that may not be on this year's exam, and there
may be material on this year's exam not covered on the sample exams. Nevertheless,
we find that taking practice exams is a good way to study as a part of
your overall strategy of getting ready for midterms and the final.
I suggest you study for the exam as follows: (1) study your lecture notes, including the vocabulary of population biology and review/learn the meaning of all variable names used in our population growth equations. Memorize the exponential growth equations (all three). (2) Practice one linked set of problems from each set of questions below and check the key to see if you got the right answers. (3) Give yourself a set of questions from each group of questions below as if it was an exam type situation (no notes). Correct your work. (4) Bring any questions to me in office hours. If you can't make my office hrs, make an appointment for another time. (5) Re-read/skim the chapters to reinforce any material you are having trouble with. (6) Try some more problems and repeat step (4). (7) Sleep well the night before the exam; you have prepared well.
